Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-At least 10 Al-Shabaab militants were on Thursday killed and others injured after heavy fighting between local forces and the group fighters at Taflow area about 30 kilometers to Berdale district in Bay region southwest Somalia.Commander for the local forces in the area, Da’ud Sheikh Bananey told reporters that their forces carried out planned operation against Al-Shabaab bases at Aflow location, killing 9 Al-Shabaab fighters on spot, and recovered 7 AK47 rifle guns, one PKM and 8 boxes of ammunition during the operation.He did not comment on if there were casualties on their side, but these local forces are working under the command of religious Sufi leader, Sheikh Abdirahman Bananey. Sources confirmed to Mogadishu24 that the leader and his followers made victims for the group and fled from other locations in the same region, but they are based in Berdale.Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the claims made by local authorities in Berdale district in Bay region so far, but this comes two days after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud announced that they are speeding up offensive war against Al-Shabaab while seeing SNA army batches going to the frontlines and others going to Turkey for training.
