Asmara, Eritrea(Mogadishu24)-President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea on Saturday met with an Egyptian delegation led by Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty at Denden Guest House earlier today, according to Eritrea’s Minister of Information, Yemane G. Meskel.

The meeting, part of ongoing consultative forums between the two nations, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing key regional issues, including the current situation in Sudan, Somalia, and the security of the Red Sea.

Both sides emphasized that strengthening ties between Eritrea and Egypt is crucial for maintaining regional peace and stability. Discussions also covered expanding cooperation in several sectors, including politics, trade, agriculture, energy, and health.

The meeting addressed recent concerns about Egypt’s role in regional dynamics, with both sides categorically rejecting claims that Egypt promotes destabilization in the region. They called such accusations baseless and intended to justify others’ strategic miscalculations.

Dr. Abdelatty praised President Afwerki’s deep knowledge of the region, noting that the discussions were particularly constructive given the current sensitive geopolitical climate.

The meeting was also attended by Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, Egypt’s General Intelligence Service head Abbas Kamel, and Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Hatem el-Atawy.
