Beijing, China(Mogadishu24)–On Wednesday, Somali Ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, officially presented a copy of her credentials to Mr. Li Jinjin, Deputy Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.This ceremony marks the formal commencement of her duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Somalia to China.“Today, I had the honor of presenting a copy of my credentials as the Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Somalia 🇸🇴 to the Deputy Director of Protocol, MFA of the People’s Republic of China 🇨🇳, Mr. Li Jinjin,” Ambassador Abdi shared on X.Dr. Abdi succeeds former Ambassador Awale Ali Kullane, who recently concluded his diplomatic tenure in Beijing. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Senior Advisor of International Relations to the Somali Prime Minister, contributing significantly to Somalia’s foreign policy initiatives.An accomplished academic, Dr. Abdi was previously a university lecturer and research fellow at the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University in China. Her academic background and experience in Sino-African relations are expected to enhance the bilateral cooperation between Somalia and China.Dr. Abdi’s appointment comes at a time when Somalia is seeking to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with international partners.
