Djibouti – Djibouti’s Prime Minister, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, participated in the AI Action Summit, which concluded in Paris following an official invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. The summit, held from February 6-11, 2025, focused on the global impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on development.

According to Djiboutian media, Prime Minister Mohamed delivered a speech at the summit, emphasizing the opportunities and challenges Africa faces in AI adoption. He highlighted that modern technology presents a significant opportunity for economic development, education, and public services across the continent.

The Prime Minister elaborated on AI’s potential benefits for Africa, particularly in:

  • Education – Leveraging AI to modernize and improve learning systems.
  • Healthcare – Using AI to enhance healthcare infrastructure and accessibility.
  • Economic Participation – Boosting economic growth and expanding employment opportunities.
  • Industrial Development – Advancing manufacturing and infrastructure through AI-driven solutions.

He urged African nations not to remain mere consumers of AI technologies developed elsewhere but to become active players in shaping and innovating AI solutions.

“Africa must be an active participant in AI development rather than just a market for solutions created by other countries,” Prime Minister Mohamed stated.

The summit’s final declaration emphasized that AI’s advancements should not be limited to benefiting specific groups but should serve as a global development engine that benefits all societies.
