Jigjiga – The Trade and Transport Office of the Somali Regional State Government (DDS) has officially launched a new public transport service, which will operate fully in the DDS capital, Jigjiga. The launch event was attended by officials from the office, the Mayor of Jigjiga, traffic police officers, transport company representatives, and bus drivers.

The new public transport service will consist of 40 new buses, which will join the existing buses in the city. These buses will serve different neighborhoods of the city, with the main goal being to improve public mobility and reduce traffic congestion, aligning Jigjiga with other capitals in Ethiopia.

The office also announced the official fare for passengers using the new buses, calling on users of the service to ensure they do not pay more than the set fare. Agreements have been made to ensure the service runs smoothly and effectively serves the city’s population.
