Mogadishu – The Himilo Qaran Party, led by former Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has declared its full support for the joint statement from Somalia’s international partners urging the swift convening of an inclusive national dialogue.

The statement, issued by the United Nations, African Union, European Union, and Somalia’s international allies, calls on the Federal Government and Federal Member States to initiate the national platform announced by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The platform is expected to address vital national issues including security, the constitution, and elections.

In a press release issued yesterday, Himilo Qaran emphasized the urgent need for an all-inclusive forum, reiterating its willingness to actively participate in the process.

“We reaffirm our support for a comprehensive national dialogue and express our full readiness to participate,” the party stated.

The party also stressed the importance of adhering to the proposed timeline to avoid further political delays, particularly as the country grapples with heightened security and political tensions.

Himilo Qaran’s endorsement came shortly after Somalia’s Independent National Electoral Commission announced that five political parties had registered and been formally recognized as key actors in the country’s ongoing democratization efforts.
