SSC-Khaatumo has strongly responded to recent warnings from Somaliland regarding the possible visit of Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre to the city of Lasanod.

In a press statement, SSC-Khaatumo’s Minister of Information, Najiib Barkhadle, addressed concerns surrounding the Prime Minister’s planned trip. He dismissed Somaliland’s warnings, saying, “If we were afraid of birds, we wouldn’t plant grain,”—a proverb used to emphasize their resolve and refusal to be intimidated.

Minister Barkhadle stressed that SSC-Khaatumo has full control over its territory and would not have extended an invitation to the Prime Minister if they had any security concerns. He affirmed that they are fully capable of ensuring the Prime Minister’s safety during his visit to Lasanod.

He also called on SSC-Khaatumo residents to remain vigilant and help maintain security in the region ahead of the visit, which is expected to take place in the coming days.

Finally, the minister issued a warning to Somaliland, urging them to refrain from provoking further conflict in the area.

The Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Lasanod has already sparked political tensions, with Somaliland declaring the trip as a deliberate provocation. Somaliland warned it would take all necessary measures—diplomatic or forceful—to prevent it.
