Hargeisa – Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro) received the FAO Representative for Somalia and his delegation at the Somaliland Presidential Palace yesterday.According to a statement from the Somaliland Presidency, the President thanked FAO for its continued support, particularly in rural development. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in livestock, agriculture, fisheries, and rural livelihoods, with an emphasis on sustainable development.The FAO Representative reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding its programs in Somaliland to better support local communities and the environment.President Cirro emphasized the need to reform aid efforts, shifting from short-term humanitarian assistance to long-term, sustainable development.FAO currently runs programs in Somaliland addressing agriculture, water access, drought response, and climate change adaptation.
