Somali elders and officials attending the Ceel-Afweyn Peace Conference.

The Vice President of Somaliland, Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, officially closed the Ceel-Afweyn Peace Conference, which successfully ended longstanding conflicts between clans in the Sanaag region.

The peace conference, held in Ceel-Afweyn, brought together cabinet ministers, regional officials, religious leaders, traditional elders, and other stakeholders. The gathering concluded with practical resolutions aimed at resolving the local conflict and promoting reconciliation.

In his remarks, the Vice President emphasized the goal of building a united, peaceful community in Ceel-Afweyn, free from violence, tribalism, and division.

“We want a united Ceel-Afweyn, where fighting and clan rivalry are a thing of the past,” he said.

He reaffirmed that the mission of the current Somaliland administration is to lead the people toward peaceful living and lasting development, highlighting that peace is the foundation for both governance and progress.
