President Cirro announces development projects for Ceel Afweyn following a successful peace conference

Ceel Afweyn, Sanaag – The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullaahi (Cirro), has officially announced a series of development projects for the district of Ceel Afweyn, following the successful conclusion of a peace conference that brought together local communities in the Sanaag region.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the community reconciliation forum, President Cirro expressed the government’s strong commitment to supporting the people of Ceel Afweyn and promoting long-term stability and development in the area.

“Today, the responsibility lies with Somaliland, and the government pledges to increase public services and economic infrastructure in Ceel Afweyn,” said President Cirro.

He revealed that the district would benefit from two key development initiatives. The first project involves the establishment of a Technical and Vocational Training Institute aimed at equipping young people with practical skills for employment. The second project is expected to be announced by the Vice President of Somaliland in the coming days.

President Cirro emphasized that his administration envisions the vocational institute as a hub for producing skilled professionals who can contribute meaningfully to Somaliland’s labor market. He also outlined plans to strengthen security in the district, particularly by addressing illegal arms possession, as part of broader efforts to prevent future conflicts.

These announcements come in the wake of a major peace accord reached during the Ceel Afweyn conference, which concluded with a spirit of mutual understanding and a shared commitment to social harmony among local communities.

The projects are seen as a concrete step toward consolidating peace and laying the groundwork for sustainable development in one of Somaliland’s key districts in the eastern Sanaag region.
