Bosaso, Somalia – The Police Commander of the Bari Region, Abdikadir Jama Dirir, announced measures to control the movement of armed forces in the city of Bosaso in order to enhance overall security in the city and its surrounding areas.These decisions were made during a large meeting held on May, 4 2025 at the Bari regional administration headquarters, attended by senior officials from Puntland’s Ministry of Security, PMPF (Puntland Maritime Police Force) officers, judiciary members, and the Bari security committee.The meeting, which focused on security issues, specifically addressed the need to improve coordination among the armed forces and prevent chaos caused by unregulated armed soldiers within the city.“It was discussed that each force should remain within its designated base, and each officer is fully responsible for controlling their own troops,” said Commander Abdikadir Jama Dirir.He emphasized that, due to the high number of armed soldiers in the city, it is essential that they remain in their designated areas, and only the security forces with proper duties should be allowed to move freely.He also highlighted that Bosaso has made significant progress compared to four or five months ago, praising the collaboration between security agencies, business owners, and the civilian community.Finally, the commander urged all Puntland agencies and the public to work together for the peace of Bosaso, stressing that a proper accountability system has been established in the region to prevent criminals from easily escaping justice.
