Hargeisa – The Ministry of Interior and Security of Somaliland has issued a directive requiring all undocumented foreign nationals residing in Somaliland to register with the Immigration Department between May 6 and May 26, 2025.According to the official letter released by the Ministry on May 7, those who register during this period will be granted temporary legal residency.“Any individual who registers will be issued a temporary authorization permit,” the Ministry stated.Foreign nationals who wish to remain in Somaliland must submit an application to the Somaliland Immigration Department and fulfill the required conditions, including payment of applicable fees.The Ministry emphasized that anyone who fails to register by the deadline will no longer have legal grounds to remain in Somaliland and instructed the Immigration Force to take appropriate legal action against such individuals.The directive also clarified that deportation procedures will be temporarily suspended during the registration window, except in cases involving violations of the law.This measure follows a previous order issued on April 30, in which Somaliland gave undocumented foreigners three days to leave its territory.
