A new military training program has officially started in the city of Galkayo, with 200 recruits taking part in preparation to join the Somali Custodial Corps. These recruits are expected to serve across the Galmudug and Hirshabelle regional states, aiming to strengthen law enforcement and correctional services in the country.The training was formally inaugurated by the Commander of the Somali Custodial Corps, General Mahad Abdirahman Aden, who highlighted the importance of discipline, integrity, and national service among the recruits.“We are here to enlist and register you. This force belongs to Galmudug, and Hiiraan, part of Hirshabelle, is included. We expect 200 officers from this intake,” General Mahad stated during the opening ceremony.The Governor of Mudug also spoke at the event, calling the training program a crucial step towards improving regional security and stability. He urged the recruits to maintain professionalism, stay free from clan-based divisions, and avoid substance abuse.This marks the second cohort being trained from Galmudug, following the first batch of 100 recruits who have already joined the Somali Custodial Corps.
