Deynuunay, Bay – On May 11, the Somali National Army, particularly the 8th Battalion of the 60th Division, supported by the South West State Darawish forces, carried out a planned operation against the Al-Shabaab group in the villages of Kuraaw-rooge and Dhanbalka, which fall under the Deynuunay area in the Bay region.According to the government, the operation targeted key Al-Shabaab bases which the group had been using to organize attacks against civilians and Somali security forces.An official statement issued by the Somali National Army’s media office confirmed that strategic Al-Shabaab strongholds in the area were destroyed. “The operation dismantled important centers that the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) used for coordinating their destabilizing activities,” the statement read.Commanders who led the operation stated that its primary objectives were to secure the area, eliminate terrorist threats, and reinforce state authority in territories previously under militant control.They also noted that local residents have shown strong support for the military, which played a crucial role in the successful and efficient execution of the operation.
