Baraawe, Lower Shabelle –
The Somali National Army and the South West State Darawiish forces carried out a planned operation today near the outskirts of Baraawe town, in the Lower Shabelle region.

The operation destroyed bases that the Al-Shabaab group had, according to government media. The officers leading the operation confirmed that Al-Shabaab was removed from a large area where they used to be.

The officers said this operation is part of the efforts by the forces to maintain security in areas under Baraawe, to prevent attacks and security threats.

The forces also confirmed they will continue similar operations to strengthen overall security in the region.

In recent times, there have been several operations in the South West areas against Al-Shabaab.
