Jigjiga – The 8th Congress of the Somali Regional State Teachers’ Union officially opened today in the city of Jigjiga, under the theme: “Respecting and Listening to Teachers’ Voices is Building a Quality Educational Future.”

Officials attending the congress included the Deputy Minister of the Somali Regional State Education Office, Guuleed Ahmed Ali; the Vice President of the Ethiopian Teachers’ Union, Shimelis Ababe; the Chairman of the Somali Regional State Teachers’ Union, Abdullahi Abdi Badal; as well as various teachers from the region and other distinguished guests.

In his speech, Deputy Minister Guuleed Ahmed Ali described teachers as the immovable asset of any country, highlighting that teachers work under diverse circumstances. He emphasized that the Education Office closely collaborates with the Teachers’ Union to improve the quality of education.

The congress discussed issues related to the welfare of teachers, the development of educational skills, and the creation of a conducive working environment that enhances the quality of education in the Somali Regional State.

This congress is expected to lead to practical recommendations and plans aimed at supporting teachers and improving the overall education system in the region.
