MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has officially welcomed the decision by the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ratify a bilateral counterterrorism cooperation agreement, initially signed in Jeddah in February 2025.The agreement between NISA and Saudi Arabia’s General Intelligence focuses on enhancing joint efforts to combat terrorism and counter the financing of extremist groups in Somalia as they said previously.In a statement released on 21 May 2025, NISA described the agreement as a cornerstone in the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab and other extremist networks operating in and beyond Somali borders as they said.“The agreement approved by the Saudi Council of Ministers represents a critical step in our shared battle against Khawarij and the financial networks that sustain terrorism,” the statement said.NISA reiterated its commitment to implementing the accord and enhancing international security partnerships aimed at building a safer and more stable future for Somalia and its people.
