Kismayo(Mogadishu24)-At least 40 Al-Shabaab militants were on Sunday morning killed and others injured after Somali National Army backed by International Partners conducted an offensive operation at Welmorow location about 40 Kilometers to Afmadow district in lower Juba region.

State run media reported the operation was an airstrike in which SNA’s Danab and Internatioanl Partners targeted Al-Shabaab militants, regrouping at the site and inflicted the casualties.

Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Abdukadir Mohamed Nur said on Facebook post that Al-Shabaab militants were destroyed in the area by not identifying any exact number of casualties.

Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the on-going military operation and development in lower Juba region under Jubaland State.
