Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Two children were killed when a mortar shell hit the house of federal Member of Parliament Mohamed Keerow Mohamed in Dharkenley district in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Monday morning.The two children who died in the mortar attack were his son, Mohamud Mohamed, and his nephew, Mohamed Warsame.Sources reported that another mortar round also hit a house next to the MP’s residence, causing extensive damages.“I am very sad about the attack and killing of the young children of my constituent Federal Parliament Member, Mohamed Kerow . I share the grief with the family and friends”, Dalmar, one of the relatives told Mogadishu24 by phone.The Government’s security forces have not commented on the mortar attacks that targeted houses in Dharkenley district, including the MP’s residence.The Al-Shabaab fighters has also not issued any statements on today’s mortar attack.This incident occurred a week after several mortar rounds hit residential homes in the Tarabush neighborhood of Wadajir district, killing a mother and injuring four children including her two children.In recent weeks, there have been several Al-Shabaab attacks, including suicide car bombings in Beledweyne and Bula Burte districts in the Hiiraan region.There have been civilian casualties in the past few weeks following Al-Shabaab attacks on civilians with car bombs and suicide bombings targeted at crowded areas such as markets, roads and security check points.President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declared a “total war” against Al-Shabaab last year.
