Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-Djibouti’s Minister of Health, Mr. Ahmed Robleh Abdilleh, along with the Minister of Social Services, Ms. Uluufo Ismail Abdo, reopened Oboch Maternity Hospital on Friday after undergoing renovation and expansion, to enhance its capacity and address the healthcare needs of local communities.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Ahmed Robleh Abdilleh emphasized that this project is part of the Djibouti government’s commitment to extending services to all regions.

“We came to Oboch to launch the renovated Maternity hospital, equipped with 15 beds, children and mother care sections, theatres, and advanced equipment. This project is among similar project by government’s to provide vital services, such as healthcare, to its citizens across all regions,” stated Minister Ahmed Robleh.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhance the healthcare facilities and hospitals annually to address public health challenges.

Ms. Uluufo Ismail Abdo, the Minister of Social Services Affairs, stated that these advancements will address mother and child health challenges and reduce maternal fatalities.

“This advancements is a new beginning of quality healthcare services in the region, particularly addressing mother and child issues. It will serve the communities in the Oboch region and its surroundings,” said Ms. Uluufo.

She added, “These services will help reduce rampant maternal fatalities, and address several other health issues.”

The hospital’s renovation was carried out by the Djibouti Community Development Agency and financed by the World Bank.

The expansion came after the hospital failed to meet the health needs of the communities living in the region, particularly on the mother and child health.

The government of Djibouti has achieved important developments in sectors such as education, health, maritime affairs, and sports, as part of its 2035 vision.
