Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, received Minnesota State Representative Hodan Hassan at his office on Tuesday after her visit to the capital Mogadishu.He acknowledged the vital role of diaspora communities, especially the active contribution of women, emphasizing the leading role Somali women play in the economic development of their country and in supporting the Somali community during challenging times.During the meeting, the Prime Minister provided updates on the situation of the Somali diaspora in the United States, highlighting the successive successes achieved by the Somali government in recent years.Representative Hodan Hassan expressed gratitude for the warm welcome to Somalia and commended Somalia’s recent achievements, including debt relief, joining the East African Community, lifting the arms embargo, and progress in the fight against extremist groups.Before her visit to Mogadishu, the U.S. lawmaker met with Somali leaders in Nairobi, Kenya, including Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle.“I had the opportunity to meet with Hodan Hassan, Minnesota House of Representative. Hodan is known for her dedication to social justice. She serves as Chair of Economic Development and Finance. Your dedication is an inspiration to Somalia youth,” said Ambassador Jabril.In recent months, U.S. leaders of Somali descent from the United States have visited Somalia to contribute and strengthen relations between Somalia and the U.S.In August, Mr. Hamse Warfa, a senior advisor on Democracy and Human Rights at the U.S. State Department, engaged in discussions with Somali leaders to further enhance ties between the two nations.
