Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to visit Cairo, Egypt after receiving an official invitation from his counterpart,Abdel Fattah El-sisi after meeting a high level delegation from Egypt at the State House in Mogadishu Monday.

“During the meeting, the delegation reiterated President El-Sissi’s unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity which also emphasizing the paramount importance of respecting these fundamental principles and firmly stating their opposition to any actions that would encroach upon them”, Villa Somalia said in a statement.

The delegation underscored the President El-Sisi’s commitment to enhancing brotherly nations between Egypt and Somalia across all mutual benefits according to the statement.

Egypt called for respecting Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity following a sea access deal between Ethiopia and Somalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland after the two leaders, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi by phone last week.

The tension between Ethiopia and Somalia seems to be worsening as the Somalia got international solidarity over respect of its sovereignty and engaged diplomatic talks with other countries including Eritrea where Somali President is in for two days’ visit while Ethiopia and Somaliland are also taking actions to move MoU forward.
