Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-In a significant move towards regional collaboration on environmental conservation and climate change mitigation, the Ministries of Environment and Climate Change from Djibouti and Somalia have embarked on a path of cooperation and experience sharing.

Djiboutian Minister of Environment, Mohamed Abdukadir Muse welcomed his counterpart, Somali Minister Khadijo Al-Makhzoumi and delegation whose visit was said to be aimed to enhance the collaborative efforts in environmental initiatives and climate change issues between the two nations

The ministers engaged in productive discussions, focusing on the environmental challenges faced by their respective nations and the broader region. They shared best practices and explored sustainable development strategies, demonstrating a mutual commitment to addressing the pressing issues of climate change and environmental degradation.

“Honored to be host by my counterpart Minister of Environment of Djibouti. We engaged in fruitful discussions on environmental challenges, shared best practices, and explored avenues for sustainable development. Excited about the proposed two-party technical committee to enhance cooperation and prepare a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding”, She said.

A key outcome of this meeting is the proposed establishment of a two-party technical committee. This committee aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries and is tasked with preparing a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU is expected to formalize the collaboration framework, focusing on combating the impacts of climate change and promoting sustainable environmental practices.
