Hargeisa(Mogadishu24)-The breakaway republic of Somaliland announced that it has taken a significant step towards achieving international recognition by establishing a Ministerial Level State Recognition Taskforce. This taskforce aims to strategize and actively pursue efforts for Somaliland’s formal recognition on the global stage.

This move is part of Somaliland’s broader diplomatic initiatives, which recently included signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ethiopia for sea access. These efforts underscore Somaliland’s commitment to enhancing its international relations and securing its status as an independent state.

Support from the UK

The Somaliland government expressed gratitude to UK Member of Parliament Gavin Williamson for his ongoing support. Williamson has once again raised the issue of Somaliland’s recognition before the UK Parliament, demonstrating his long-term dedication to the cause.
