Spokesperson for the Somali Police forces, Abdifitah Aden Hassan told reporters in Mogadishu that the security contained the situation, killed all the perpetrators(attackers) inside the hotel and captured another Al-Shabaab member alive. He was driving a car filled with explosives, he said.

Hassan added that two of the Somali security members were injured during the operation, but one died for the wound later.

Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack and said that the suicide bomber targeted senior government officials at the hotel and then the group fighters carrying out shootings.

Former Somali Presidents, Sharif Sh. Ahmed, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and many other officials including Puntland State President, Said Abdullahi Deni condemned the attack on Beach View Hotel which happened around 10:00 a.m local time.

Independent sources say the casualties are more than those mentioned by the Somali Government and major hospitals in the capital are demanding volunteers to donate blood to the wounded victims.

The social media platforms covered messages of condolences, photos of the dead bodies and feelings of the users of the horrific deadly attacks.

The attack seems to be the deadliest one on Hotel in recent history that happened in the capital according to the security sources.

“May Allah have mercy on those who were massacred by terrorists on Lido beach tonight, and may Allah grant a speedy recovery to the injured. The horrifying images from the beach, where the suicide bombers detonated themselves, are terrifying and reveal the merciless and ruthless nature of terrorism, and how they disregards the values of Islam and humanity. These images also demonstrate the hostility that terrorists harbor towards the Somali people. Our only option is to unite against this enemy who does not differentiate between us and carries out indiscriminate killings”, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, Member of the Parliament of Somalia said on X post.
