Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre held an emergency meeting with security officials following a deadly terrorist attack at Liido Beach that left at least 32 people dead and more than 62 others injured.

President Mohamud questioned security officials on the circumstances of the attack and strategies to enhance security in the capital. He extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a swift recovery. “The attack shows the cruelty of Al-Shabaab and their aim to destroy Somali civilians. The government is determined to eliminate this bloody group,” he said.

The president urged Somali citizens to support security forces and report suspicious activities. “Unite for their elimination, support the national army, and report those who are hiding among you,” he appealed.

The government remains committed to safeguarding the nation and eradicating terrorism. Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed 54 and injured 87 others, but caused casualties than the claims.
