Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Somali Government has announced plans to airlift three critically injured victims of the Al-Shabaab bombing at Beach View Hotel on Liido Beach in Mogadishu’s Abdiaziz district earlier this month.

The victims will be taken abroad for advanced medical treatment, though the specific countries and departure dates have not yet been disclosed.

The decision follows a visit by Commissioner Mahamud Moallim of Somalia’s Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) to the wounded at the Turkish-run Erdogan Hospital (formerly Ex-Digfeer) in Mogadishu on Friday evening.

“Commissioner @MahamuudMoallim visited Erdogan Hospital to inquire about the health of the individuals injured in the recent terrorist attack at #Lido beach. They require advanced medical care abroad, and the Commissioner assured them of support,” SODMA stated on X.

The Beach View Hotel attack, claimed by Al-Shabaab on August 3rd, resulted in the deaths of at least 40 people and injured 247 others. This airlift is part of the ongoing efforts to provide critical care to those severely affected by the attack.

In previous instances, victims of similar terrorist attacks have been treated in countries including Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
