Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-As part of an official visit to China, Djibouti’s Prime Minister, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, met with the Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Gong Zheng, to discuss enhancing partnership relations between the Republic of Djibouti and the city of Shanghai. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector, promoting youth exchanges, and building partnerships in education and culture.Prime Minister Mohamed emphasized the importance of fostering human exchanges, particularly involving the youth, who are seen as the nation’s strongholds. The leaders also discussed the performance of the Port of Shanghai, which is ranked as the top container port globally, and explored ways to enhance port cooperation between Shanghai and Djibouti.Additionally, the two parties agreed to increase investment partnerships, with plans to organize a China-Djibouti Economic Forum on September 3rd. This forum, held under the patronage of the President of Djibouti, will showcase investment opportunities to 500 Chinese businessmen, with the participation of the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce.Djibouti’s Ambassador to China, Abdallah Abdillahi Miguil, who attended the meeting, highlighted the invitation extended to Djibouti City Hall to strengthen decentralized partnerships between Shanghai and Djibouti. Shanghai, a key economic, cultural, and industrial hub, contributes over 20% of China’s GDP and plays a significant role in the global economy.
