Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is set to depart for Beijing, China, this evening, accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking ministers, to participate in the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). The summit, which will commence on September 4th, will bring together leaders from across Africa, as well as representatives from regional and international organizations, to discuss and enhance collaboration between Africa and China.

The upcoming summit will focus on key areas of cooperation, including investment, infrastructure development, and trade. It is widely anticipated that China will unveil new initiatives aimed at bolstering its partnerships with African nations and supporting the continent’s development.

Somalia is expected to play a prominent role in the summit, as reflected by the composition of the delegation accompanying President Mohamud. Key ministers in attendance include the Minister of Energy and Water, the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Minister of Communications and Technology, the Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, the State Minister for the Presidency, the State Minister for Education, and the Director General of the Presidency.

This high-level participation underscores Somalia’s commitment to strengthening its ties with China and other African nations, particularly in areas that are crucial to the country’s development.
