Cairo, Egypt(Mogadishu24)-Egypt has sent a shipment of military aid to Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, to bolster the capabilities of the Somali National Army.

This move is part of Egypt’s ongoing commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts to achieve security, stability, and combat terrorism, as confirmed by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Tamim Khalaf.

The aid delivery aligns with the recently signed military cooperation protocol between Egypt and Somalia, further highlighting Egypt’s central role in enhancing Somalia’s national capabilities.

Somali Ambassador to Egypt, Ali Abdi Owari, expressed gratitude for Egypt’s continued military support, praising President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for his steadfast backing of Somalia at all levels.

The shipment is a key step in fulfilling the outcomes of the recent Egypt-Somalia summit held in Cairo, where both President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and President el-Sisi agreed to strengthen defense cooperation.

Ambassador Aware emphasized that this reflects Egypt’s dedication to helping Somalia overcome current challenges and achieve the aspirations of the Somali people for peace, security, and development.
