New York, USA(Mogadishu24)-Ethiopian Foreign Minister Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie met with Catherine Molly Phee, Assistant Secretary for African Affairs at the U.S. State Department, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss key issues of mutual concern.During the meeting, Minister Taye expressed appreciation for the strong relations between Ethiopia and the United States, emphasizing the need for continued dialogue on matters of shared interest.He briefed Ms. Phee on the situation in the Horn of Africa, highlighting Ethiopia’s commitment to fostering sustainable peace and security in the region.On Somalia, the minister stressed the importance of careful consideration before determining any post-ATMIS (African Union Transition Mission in Somalia) arrangements, given Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism.Ms. Phee reaffirmed the U.S.’s commitment to working with Ethiopia to maintain regional peace and security, particularly in the fight against terrorism.“We both affirmed the importance of continuing our efforts in the fight against terrorism and building peace and security in the region,” Minister Atske-Selassie said following the discussion.
