Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-Two shipwrecks off the coast of Djibouti have left at least 45 migrants dead, with many others still missing.

The boats, which departed from Yemen, were carrying a total of 310 people. So far, 32 survivors have been rescued, according to Yvonne Ndege, spokesperson for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), who confirmed the incident on Tuesday evening.

The IOM is actively supporting state emergency services in search and rescue operations. While details of the identities of the rescued and missing remain unclear, such tragic incidents have been on the rise in Africa and Asia as migrants flee poverty, unemployment, and conflict, attempting dangerous journeys to reach Europe or the U.S.
