Asad Osman Abdullahi officially took over as the Somali Police Force Commissioner on Wednesday during a handing-over ceremony at General Kahiye Police Academy.The event, attended by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, ministers, Mogadishu municipality authorities, and members of the diplomatic community, marked the transition from former Police Chief Sulub Ahmed Firin to Gen. Asad.In his address, Gen. Asad pledged to bolster police operations across Somalia and strengthen counter-terrorism efforts. He expressed gratitude to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Barre for entrusting him with the new role.“I am committed to expanding our operations and enhancing security across the country,” he staid.Prime Minister Barre praised the new Commissioner as a knowledgeable and experienced law enforcement professional, emphasizing his proven track record in security and counter-terrorism.“Gen. Asad brings a wealth of experience to this role and will undoubtedly strengthen the Somali Police Force,” the Prime Minister remarked, expressing confidence that Asad will significantly contribute to improving security both in the capital and nationwide.Gen.
