Hargeysa(Mogadishu24)-DahabShiil, a major Somali-based international money transfer and business conglomerate, announced on Saturday that it would adhere to the Somali government’s directive to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The directive requires international airlines and money transfer agencies, including DahabShiil, to refrain from referring to Somaliland as a separate country.

DahabShiil, which operates in over 120 countries globally, emphasized its commitment to international regulations, stating, “DahabShiil is a global company… We all operate under international rules.” DahabShiil reiterated its commitment to serving all regions of Somalia while maintaining compliance with international standards.

The company’s decision follows a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year between Ethiopia and Somaliland, leasing 20 kilometers of sea access to Ethiopia—a move that has heightened tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia. Despite efforts to resolve the conflict, it remains unresolved after ten months.

DahabShiil, involved in various sectors such as finance, telecommunications, and real estate, operates across Somalia and worldwide, aligning its policies with both government directives and global business practices.
