Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-At least four businessmen were shot and killed on Thursday morning by gunmen believed to be members of Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu’s Daynile district, according to police and eyewitnesses.

The attack is suspected to be linked to the victims’ compliance with the Somali government’s order to install CCTV cameras in their business centers—a measure aimed at improving security.

District police and security forces arrived at the crime scene shortly after the incident and have begun an investigation, though no official details have been released.

This attack mirrors a similar incident in Mogadishu’s Heliwa district, specifically in the Suqa-holaha neighborhood, where a businessman was shot and killed by Al-Shabaab, a group that claimed responsibility shortly afterward.

In August, Al-Shabaab destroyed twin markets in Ceelasha-biyaha for similar reasons, targeting businesses for cooperating with government security measures.

The incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu, as the group continues to target individuals and businesses supporting government initiatives.
