Hargeisa(Mogadishu24)-President Muse Bihi Abdi has on Saturday issued three critical decrees aimed at promoting fairness, transparency, and security in the upcoming Somaliland presidential elections, scheduled for November 13, 2024.

The decrees set out guidelines on the use of national resources, government media, and public venues during the election campaigns.

Decree 1 mandates equal access for all political parties to state media outlets and public spaces, ensuring fair opportunities for campaign events. It emphasizes the importance of security at rallies and public gatherings.

Decree 2 prohibits the use of public resources, including government vehicles and staff, for campaigning. It also bans government employees and security forces from participating in campaign activities, warning of legal consequences for violations.

Decree 3 directs all government institutions to support the National Electoral Commission (SLNEC) in organizing and securing the elections, with the Ministry of Interior and security forces tasked with ensuring safety throughout the election period.

These measures highlight the government’s commitment to a fair and secure election process in Somaliland.
