Kampala(Mogadishu24)-Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Uganda for a working visit, where he is set to hold discussions with President Yoweri Museveni on strengthening bilateral ties, regional security cooperation, and the upcoming transition plan of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

According to a statement from Villa Somalia, President Hassan’s visit is part of a broader diplomatic tour to engage with countries contributing troops to ATMIS, with a focus on ensuring a smooth transition as Somalia prepares to take over full security responsibilities in December.

The transition plan remains a priority, despite ongoing security challenges, including continued attacks by the militant group Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu and other areas under government control.

The new African Union mission, which is expected to replace ATMIS, will see changes in troop contributions, with Egypt set to join the efforts. Ethiopia has also expressed support for the upcoming transition, but without Egypt.

President Hassan’s meetings are aimed at consolidating regional support as Somalia moves toward a critical phase in its security operations. He is expected to visit to other troop-contributing countries,Kenya, Burundi, Djibouti except Ethiopia as the two countries are conflict now.
