Asmara(Mogadishu24)-Eritrea has defended its regional policy following speculation surrounding the recent Tripartite Summit with Somalia and Egypt held in Asmara earlier this month.

Eritrean Minister of Information, Yemane G. Meskel, emphasized the country’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and stability grounded in legality and mutual interests.

Eritrea’s dedication to resolving disputes in good faith with neighboring nations, he noted, is evident in its longstanding diplomatic approach.

Meskel addressed analyses sparked by the summit, stating that interpretations by some commentators, particularly a recent article in The Hill by Imran Khalid, are speculative and do not accurately reflect Eritrea’s intentions in the region.

His comments come shortly after Somalia declared an Ethiopian diplomat persona non grata, underscoring a tense regional environment as alliances and policies draw heightened scrutiny.

Eritrea’s response, led by Minister Meskel, reaffirms its stance on regional diplomacy, focusing on lawful cooperation and harmony among Horn of Africa nations.
