Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-Djibouti is hosting the 3rd Türkiye-Africa Ministerial Summit from November 2 to 3, 2024, at the Kempinski Palace, co-chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Djiboutian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki.This high-level gathering brings together foreign ministers and diplomatic representatives from across Africa, including Egypt, Comoros, Angola, Ghana, and Equatorial Guinea, in a show of Djibouti’s rising influence in regional diplomacy.Türkiye has been a key partner to the African Union since 2008, hosting regular summits to set cooperative five-year strategies. Following the previous Türkiye-Africa summit in Istanbul in 2021, the next will take place in Africa in 2026. In Djibouti, delegates will assess the progress of joint efforts in peace, security, trade, education, infrastructure, and health under the 2022-2026 Action Plan.Foreign Minister Fidan is expected to affirm Türkiye’s commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership with Africa, focusing on socio-economic development and humanitarian support aligned with African priorities.Türkiye also aims to promote Africa’s voice in global institutions like the UN and to support the AU’s integration into the G20.The summit includes participation from foreign ministers of fourteen African nations, alongside AU representatives. The closing will feature a joint declaration outlining key strategies for the Türkiye-Africa partnership ahead of the 2026 summit, along with a progress report highlighting Turkish initiatives and offering recommendations to deepen cooperation further.This conference underscores Djibouti’s growing role in fostering Africa’s international partnerships and strengthening ties that benefit the continent’s future development and stability.
