Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh welcomed Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, after the Third Türkiye-Africa Ministerial Coordination Conference held at Djibouti’s Kempinski Palace from November 2 to 3, 2024.

During their meeting, Fidan briefed President Guelleh on the action plan and initiatives resulting from the conference to enhance the Türkiye-Africa strategic partnership.

The leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations across various development sectors, including social welfare, education, health, agriculture, and economic cooperation.

Trade between the two nations currently stands at an estimated $500 million, with Turkey planning significant investments in Djibouti, especially in the energy sector and at Damerjog Port.

In addition, both parties emphasized their commitment to regional security cooperation, acknowledging Djibouti’s role as the current IGAD chair and Turkey’s involvement as a mediator in the Somali-Ethiopian conflict.

The meeting was attended by high-level officials from both countries, underlining the growing importance of Djibouti-Turkey ties in regional stability and economic development.
