Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-On Monday, December 2, 2024, Djibouti welcomed a high-level delegation from the National People’s Assembly (NPA) of China, led by Zhang Qingwei, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPA.

The delegation was greeted at Djibouti International Airport by the Speaker of Djibouti’s National Assembly, Dileita Mohamed Dileita, alongside senior parliamentary officials and Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti, His Excellency Hu Bin.

The welcoming delegation included First Vice President Hon. Safia Elmi Djibril, Second Vice President Hon. Omar Ahmed Waiss, Secretary of the Office and Chairman of the Djibouti-China Parliamentary Friendship Group Hon. Saleban Daher Bileh, and Quester Hon. Ibrahim Abdo.

During an initial meeting at the airport’s Hall of Honor, Speaker Dileita Mohamed Dileita and Vice-Chairman Zhang Qingwei emphasized the historical strength and mutual respect underpinning Djibouti-China relations.

They hailed the bilateral partnership as an exemplary model of cooperation, highlighting shared values and the growing strategic importance of Djibouti in China-Africa relations.

Vice-Chairman Zhang Qingwei underscored Djibouti’s pivotal role, stating that the choice of Djibouti as the first stop in the delegation’s Africa visit reflects the country’s strategic significance and the trust China places in its Djiboutian partner.

This official visit is expected to deepen ties between the two nations and reinforce their collaboration in various fields, further cementing Djibouti’s position as a key partner in China-Africa relations.
