Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Somali Government announced on Saturday that it has dispatched a plane to Madagascar to repatriate over 40 Somali migrants who were rescued after two boats capsized near the coast of Madagascar two weeks ago.

The boats, carrying 70 Somali migrants, capsized in rough waters, leading to tragic losses. Local fishermen in the region managed to rescue survivors, while many others were confirmed dead. The government stated that the mission aims to rescue and bring home the stranded youth, ensuring their safe return to Somalia.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Somali citizens and addressing challenges posed by irregular migration. The government has been working closely with international partners to prevent such dangerous journeys and support reintegration efforts for returnees.

This latest incident highlights the growing risks faced by migrants seeking better opportunities through perilous sea routes.
