Ali-Sabieh, Djibouti(Mogadishu24)–A high-level delegation led by the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, visited the Ali-Sabieh region to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of a technical high school and a community development center.The delegation, warmly welcomed by the Prefect of Ali-Sabieh, Abdoul-Malik Mohamed Banoïta, and Regional Council President Charmake Hassan Allaleh, included prominent figures such as the Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye, the UNHCR Representative in Djibouti, Mr. Philippe Kuessan-San Creppy, and IGAD’s Director of Health and Development Division, Ms. Fathia A. Alwan.The ongoing projects in Ali-Sabieh and nearby Ali-Adhé aim to improve the living conditions of local communities and migrant populations in this critical cross-border region. Funded by the German government through KfW, the program focuses on building educational, health, and community facilities to support refugee integration and drive local development.Dr. Workneh praised the collaboration between IGAD, Djibouti, and its international partners, stating:“These infrastructure projects demonstrate our commitment to building a prosperous future for vulnerable communities. We are working to ensure that no one is left behind.”IGAD’s Director of Health and Development, Ms. Fathia Alwan, emphasized the importance of focusing on underserved areas:“Prioritizing cross-border and remote regions remains at the heart of IGAD’s mission.
