Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-At least two shopkeepers were shot and killed, and another was injured in an attack by suspected Al-Shabaab militants on Wednesday morning in Mogadishu’s Hodan district. The incident occurred in the Zone-K village, where the gunmen targeted two shops, reportedly due to the presence of CCTV cameras, which the group had previously threatened to remove.Eyewitnesses confirmed that the gunmen fired on three shopkeepers at two opposite shops, killing two on the spot. The third victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. This attack is believed to be linked to the group’s ongoing threats against businesses using surveillance cameras in the capital.Local police have yet to comment on the killings, nor have they addressed a similar deadly incident that occurred at Hormuud Telecom in the Hawlwadag district a day earlier.Business owners in Daynile district have also faced threats, leading to some shops being shut down after receiving warnings from the group via telephone to remove their cameras. This marks the second such attack in recent days, as four businessmen were shot and killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in Daynile district six days ago.Al-Shabaab has not officially claimed responsibility for the latest attack. The rising violence has heightened concerns over the safety of businesses in Mogadishu, as the group continues to target civilians and disrupt daily life.Al-Shabaab Suspected in Killing of Four Businessmen in Mogadishu Over CCTV Compliance Post navigationJapan Hosts Maritime Security Forum in Djibouti to Boost African Cooperation UK Provides £7.5 Million Boost to ATMIS for Somalia’s Security and Stability Efforts
