At least 15 dead, 50 others injured in clan conflict in central Somalia

Galkayo(Mogadshu24)-At least 15 people were on Thursday killed and 50 others injured after heavy fighting between two clan militias at Sax-quran, Jiicboor, Oman and Maygag areas in eastern parts of Mudug region under Galmudug and Puntland States according to medical sources.

Somalia’s Minister of Interior and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh) condemned the deadly conflict between those two parts, called for an immediate ceasefire, requesting scholars and community leaders to take a leading role to the solution of the war.

“I am calling for Puntland and Galmudug States to intervene the situation and find lasting peace to the region. I strongly condemn to those inciting the war between the two sides including Al-Shabaab”, Ali said, saying that his government designate spoilers igniting the war.

The fighting is between Leyl-kase of Darud and Sacad, Habar-gidir of Hawiye clan and they are under Puntland and Galmudug States respectively.

Today’s confrontation a week after similar clashes between the two sides happened in the same region, leaving at five people dead and more than 10 others wounded.

Puntland and Galmudug States did not provide details about the ongoing deadly civil war in the region so far, the region was already struggling with droughts, Al-Shabaab and other circumstances mainly unemployment.
