Mogadishu, 25 may 2025 — Mustafa Mohamed Macalim, Director General of Fisheries and Blue Economy for Banadir Region, has issued a warning about escalating dangers along the Mogadishu coastline, confirming that five people, including children, have died over the past Two days due to rough sea conditions near Liido Beach and other coastal areas.Mustafa attributed the fatalities to strong winds and hazardous sea waves, expressing condolences to the families affected.“There has been a tragic loss of five individuals, mostly children, within two days, caused by the turbulent sea and intense winds prevailing along Liido and other coastal stretches,” Mustafa Mohamed Macalim stated.He urged local residents, particularly parents, to closely supervise their children near the beaches, and cautioned tourists and fishermen to remain vigilant of the sea hazards.The Banadir administration called on the public to heed maritime safety warnings to prevent further accidents amid changing weather conditions.
