Djibouti: China and Djibouti have agreed to enhance their cooperation in natural resource development and strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in salt production. Djibouti’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yoonis Ali Geedi, who recently visited China, met with leaders of Chinese companies with whom Djibouti collaborates.

The meeting, which involved officials from Haiwang Chemical, a company in Djibouti that collaborates with China in salt production, focused on strengthening cooperation and accelerating salt production in Djibouti.

Minister Yoonis Ali Geedi presented Djibouti’s commitment to developing its natural resources, especially boosting salt production in the Lagcasal region.

Minister Geedi also mentioned that this meeting marked an important step in outlining the cooperation between Djibouti and China, which began in 1979. This partnership has significantly contributed to the country’s economic development and infrastructure, with China being one of the major investors in Djibouti.

The economic relationship between China and Djibouti has grown stronger, with China playing a key role in Djibouti’s investments, particularly in the salt industry and natural resources. Chinese companies are also involved in developing vital infrastructure such as ports, railways, and energy projects.
