NAIROBI, Kenya – The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), has called on the Federal Government of Somalia to focus on its national interests and to disengage from Somaliland affairs. He also urged Somalia to overcome its security, political, and federal member state unity challenges.

President Cirro made these remarks in a speech delivered at the celebration of Somaliland’s May 18th Independence Day, organized by the Somaliland diaspora community in Nairobi, Kenya.

Cirro spoke clearly about the history and future of Somaliland, stating that Somaliland has never harbored ill will towards Somalia. It was once a unified part of Somalia, like siblings, but later declared independence.

The President emphasized that those preoccupied with Somaliland issues should not waste their time but focus on their important tasks, as Somaliland is focused on its own development and the welfare of its people, and will continue its work without being distracted by others.

“I tell those who are busy with Somaliland matters not to waste their time; Somaliland is busy with its affairs, and you should be busy doing your work,” said the President.

Cirro also encouraged people to continue their prayers and support for Somaliland’s progress, stressing the importance of being a nation living together in peace, unity, and love.
