Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-Djibouti’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, signed an agreement today with France’s Ambassador to Djibouti, Dana Purcarescu, to provide additional financing for a large-scale sanitation project covering five districts: Q7, Q7bis, Q5, Q6, and Cité Stade.The project, valued at 8 billion DJF (40 million euros), aims to improve sanitation infrastructure and solid waste management, enhancing living conditions and environmental sustainability. Construction is set to begin in mid-December, with completion expected by 2025.Minister Dawaleh praised the initiative, stating, “This funding reflects our commitment, alongside our partners, to provide a cleaner environment and better well-being for all citizens.”Ambassador Purcarescu reaffirmed France’s dedication to supporting sustainable development in Djibouti, underscoring the importance of this partnership.The project is part of Djibouti’s broader urban development agenda under President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh’s leadership, ensuring a healthier future for residents in the targeted districts.
