Soohoyde Djibouti City, Djibouti – The Djiboutian government has announced a nationwide ban on bringing weapons into the country. Anyone caught with firearms will face strict legal action, with special attention given to nomads crossing from neighboring countries. Minister of Interior Said Nouh made the announcement during a press conference, stating that the decision is meant to protect national stability and public safety. “It is strictly forbidden to bring weapons into Djibouti. Anyone caught with firearms will be prosecuted,” Minister Nouh warned. He issued a strong message to people entering Djibouti from neighboring countries, instructing them not to carry weapons. Security forces at border crossings have been ordered to seize any unauthorized firearms immediately. Crackdown on Illegal Weapons The minister also revealed that Djibouti’s security forces will soon begin operations against illegal arms trafficking and those attempting to smuggle weapons into the country. “This decision is part of the government’s efforts to improve security and enforce the law,” Nouh added. Security Concerns After AirstrikeThe ban was announced just days after the Djiboutian government confirmed launching an airstrike on a group it called terrorists in Addorta, a location about six kilometers from the Ethiopian border. Djibouti has been increasing its efforts to stop illegal weapons smuggling and combat groups seen as threats to national security. Authorities say the new ban is a necessary step to maintain peace and order in the country.
